An insane Brainiac 5 faces the Legion as they try to take from him the secret of how to destroy Omega.

Brainiac 5 raves to Princess Projectra and Karate Kid about his plans to destroy the universe through Omega, a monster he created. While some Legionnaires battle Omega in space, trying to halt his approach to Earth, Brainiac 5 claims that he can stop Omega if he is allowed to rule the universe. Wildfire plays along and Brainiac 5 the person who could stop Omega is an inactive Legionnaire: Matter-Eater Lad. Omega arrives on Earth, pushing through Legionnaires until he enters the Legion headquarters. He ultimately faces Wildfire, who unleashes all his powers, but it doesn't affect Omega and only succeeds in destroying their headquarters. Finally, Omega meets up with Brainiac 5 and Brainiac 5 tells him that he was created by the Miracle Machine, but his rampage is over. The Miracle Machine has been destroyed thanks to Matter-Eater Lad, who consumed the machine, which causes Omega to vanish. Unfortunately, the alien energy in that machine were too much to handle and have made Matter-Eater Lad go crazy. After Brainiac 5 is committed into a mental institution, Wildfire and Superboy discuss the current state of the Legion and realize the Legion's existence is important.
